Daffodil flowers bloom in a field near Penzance in Cornwall, England. Because of the recent harsh winter weather many growers are reporting later than usual blooming of flowers - with a report by the National Trust saying that more than half of its plants in gardens in Devon and Cornwall were damaged by the unusually severe recent bout of frost and snow. The annual National Trust flower count of its gardens in the two counties shows that the Sub-Mediterranean species which thrive in the South West's milder climate have been hard-hit by the recent cold weather.
