Japan's incoming prime minister Yukio Hatoyama of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) leader, accompanied by his wife Miyuki, leaves his residence in Tokyo on September 14, 2009. Hatoyama is due to take over on September 16 from Prime Minister Taro Aso after the DPJ defeated his conservative party in a landslide election on August 30, ending its more than half-century of almost unbroken rule.
