DTN News - ANNA HAZARE NEWS: Indian Policemen Guard Prime Minister's Residence To Stop Anna Hazare's Supporters Protesting In New Delhi

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - August 25, 2011: Indian policemen stand guard outside the residence of India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to stop supporters of veteran Indian social activist Anna Hazare protesting, in New Delhi August 25, 2011.

Singh appealed to the anti-corruption campaigner to end his public hunger strike as a deal to end some of the biggest protests in decades led by the self-styled Gandhian activist appeared to be close.

The campaign by 74-year-old Hazare has united millions of Indians, including its growing middle class, against a Congress party-led government that has been beset by corruption scandals in its second term, paralysing policy making.
