A Filipino fisherman lifts tuna, which is exported to Japan, U.S. and Europe, at the General Santos city port, southern Philippines Monday Feb. 23, 2009. The Philippine government recently passed the baselines bill defining its territorial boundaries in conformity with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The passage of the bill protects the Philippines' standard 200-mile exclusive economic zone and lay claim over its extensive continental shelf which will favorably secure the vast fishing industry.
