DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS: Raytheon Awarded APY-10 Radar Contract For Boeing's P-8A Aircraft....NSI News Source Info # 1540
The radars will be delivered to Boeing as part of the P-8A contract with the U.S. Navy. The P-8A replaces the P-3 aircraft and will be used for surveillance along the U.S. coastline.
The APY-10, the premier sensor for maritime and overland missions, was designed for the Navy's Poseidon aircraft and will replace the APS-137 radar. Building on more than 40 years of proven Raytheon technology, it delivers accurate and actionable information in all weather, day and night, for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
A member of the Boeing-led industry team for the Navy's P-8A program, Raytheon has previously delivered four APY-10 systems and spares to Boeing and is contracted to deliver an additional nine systems for the Navy's P-8A.
Raytheon Company, with 2010 sales of $25 billion, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 89 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command, control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a broad range of mission support services. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 72,000 people worldwide.

DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS: Indian Navy To Buy Four More P-8Is Aircraft....NSI News Source Info # 1537
In a deal expected to range between $1 billion to $1.5 billion, the new aircraft will be in addition to the eight the Navy had ordered in January 2009, for about $2.1 billion. The new contract price is also expected to include the cost of aero-structures and avionics.
“The Indian Navy has received the necessary government approvals and has decided to go ahead with the contractual processes to acquire four additional P-8I aircraft under the options clause,” Commander PVS Satish, public relations officer for the Indian Navy told The Economic Times.
According to sources, Boeing has already submitted its draft offset contract to the defence ministry last week. “The government is considering exercising the option of adding four P-8I aircraft,” Dr Vivek Lall, vice-president, Boeing Defence, Space & Security told ET. The P-8I, which is based on the Boeing next-generation 737 commercial airplane, is a variant of the P-8A Poseidon that the defence vendor Boeing is developing for the US Navy. India is the first international customer for the P-8 platform.
Further, the global community has been clamouring for India to play a more dominant policing role against sea piracy in the Straits of Malacca, which is one of the busiest commercial and military sea-routes in the world, and along the East African coast.
Also, in the ongoing scramble for sea power in the world’s thirdlargest ocean, India has been desperate to stop what it perceives as a growing Chinese hegemony in the region. Separately, Boeing has also submitted a reply to the Navy’s Request for Information for six medium-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft as well.

DTN News - MIDDLE EAST NEWS: Israeli Official Sees Cyber Alternative To "Ugly" War....NSI News Source Info # 1536
"In modern times, because war is all the time on television ... people see this and can't take it. There are limits. There is a price you pay."
He added: "Because it is difficult, one looks for other ways. One of those other ways is the intelligence community of all the world trying to do things that don't look that ugly, don't kill people."
He declined to discuss the mysterious Stuxnet worm found in Iranian networks last year, but his remarks underscored Israelis' doubts about delivering on veiled threats to use open force against their arch-foe's nuclear program.
