Vietnamese economy - To beef up manufacturing, Hanoi looks beyond China
HANOI (November 16, 2015 7:00 am JST) -- Vietnam is looking for all the overseas help it can get to raise its domestic manufacturing to the next level.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam on Nov. 5 grabbed headlines, coming as it did amid heightened tensions between the two countries over territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
But Xi was not the only guest. On the same day, Icelandic President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Belgian Senate President Christine Defraigne were also in Vietnam, as was a Japanese cabinet minister.
