DTN News - Lebanon TODAY: Tripoli Battles Part of ISIS-Nusra Scheme To Establish Islamic Emirate

DTN News - Lebanon TODAY: Tripoli Battles Part of ISIS-Nusra Scheme To Establish Islamic Emirate

(NSI News Source Info) KOTTAKKAL, Kerala India - October 28, 2014: Lebanese soldiers patrol next to damaged buildings in the old market in Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood following clashes with militants, in Tripoli, Lebanon, October 27, 2014.

Military operations continued in the northern port city of Tripoli on 27 October after clashes over the weekend reportedly left 10 soldiers and four civilians dead.

Soldiers raided streets in searches for militants in the mainly Sunni neighborhood of Bab al-Tabbaneh, four days after violence first erupted. Shops, businesses and schools remained closed in Lebanon's second-largest city, while most people living near the area of the confrontations have left their homes in fear that the violence will spread.

Four days of fierce fighting between the Lebanese Army and Tripoli’s militants were part of a scheme by ISIS and the Nusra Front to establish a foothold in northern Lebanon, and eventually set up an Islamic emirate in the multi-sectarian country, analysts said Monday. They added that the Army’s determination to crush militants in northern Lebanon, regardless of the sacrifices that entailed in the ongoing battle against homegrown terrorism, has foiled attempts by ISIS and Syria’s Al-Qaeda affiliate Nusra Front to establish an Islamic state in the country.

DTN News - SYRIA UNREST: Hezbollah Unites Clans To Raise Border Force

DTN News - SYRIA UNREST: Hezbollah Unites Clans To Raise Border Force

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 11, 2013: Hezbollah has significantly increased its presence along Lebanon's northern border to prevent Syria's conflict from spilling into its territory, after recent Syrian Army gains ousted rebels in the region.

Sources within Hezbollah and close to Lebanon's Shia political-military group said more forces have been deployed to the border to prevent rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad's army from entering the country. The mobilisation is also intended to thwart a repeat of last week's events when a barrage of rockets fired by Syrian rebels hit the historic town of Baalbek and surrounding areas.

The rocket attack last Wednesday came hours after Assad's forces re-captured the strategic city of Qusayr after days of heavy fighting. Syrian rebels accused Hezbollah of sending thousands of fighters to join the battle on the side of Assad.

DTN News - IRAN SPECIAL REPORT: Ludicrous To Attack Iran And Devastate Global Economy

DTN News - IRAN SPECIAL REPORT: Ludicrous To Attack Iran And Devastate Global Economy

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - September 26, 2012: Should  USA or Israel proceed with its venture to attack Iran on pretext of nuclear factor, the war will eventually spread around the globe with countries taking sides.

The energy lanes of crude oil disrupted or stopped creating a shortage of products, rise of inflation and havoc in the world economy and not sparing a single country resulting in high unemployment in most developed countries and globally reflecting civic unrest.

The above scenario could be feasible, but not factual as no country in the world would be ludicrous to act against Iran and devastate global economy. U.S. would get sucked into war if Israel strikes Iran.

DTN News - ISRAELI DEFENSE NEWS: Israel Strike On Iran Would Be Disaster: Netanyahu's Ex-Deputy

DTN News - ISRAELI DEFENSE NEWS: Israel Strike On Iran Would Be Disaster: Netanyahu's Ex-Deputy

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - August 18, 2012:  A former deputy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday a pre-emptive military strike against Iran over its nuclear program could embroil Israel in a "disastrous war".

Shaul Mofaz, a parliamentary opposition leader who quit Netanyahu's cabinet last month where he served as vice premier, said on Israeli television he thought Israel was "planning a hasty, irresponsible event".

The former general and defense minister said he thought Israel could not do anything to force a strategic change in Iran's nuclear program, which the West suspects is aimed at producing atomic weapons. Tehran says it is for peaceful purposes.

As a member of Netanyahu's security cabinet for two months, Mofaz was privy to deliberations on Iran's nuclear program.

DTN News - MID EAST HOT SPOTS: Saudi Arabia Is Israel’s Last Hope ~ Report

DTN News - MID EAST HOT SPOTS: Saudi Arabia Is Israel’s Last Hope ~ Report

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - May 6, 2012: A recent report by Tel Aviv University says Saudi Arabia is the last hope and defense line for Israel and describes the Saudis as Tel Aviv’s last chance to protect its political interests in the Arab world.

The Al Saud family is very important to Israel because Saudi Arabia is very actively working in countries such as Yemen, Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon to reduce Iran's influence in those countries.”  Tel Aviv University Report

The report said most of Israel’s allies in the region have collapsed and cannot play a significant role in the Arab world.

It added that Saudi Arabia is the only country that stands against the Islamic Republic of Iran and thus it is Tel Aviv’s last line of defense against Tehran.

The report noted that the Al Saud family is very important to Israel because Saudi Arabia is very actively working in countries such as Yemen, Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon to reduce Iran's influence in those countries.

Last March, a senior Egyptian cleric accused Saudi Arabia and Qatar of meddling in the internal affairs of other Muslim nations, calling the two states “Israel’s servants.”

Sheikh Mohammad Alaedin Madhi said the two countries were implementing an Israeli-US plan in Syria.

He also criticized the Saudi-owned television network Al-Arabiya and the Qatar-owned broadcaster Al-Jazeera for "serving Israeli interests."

Moreover, in emails leaked by WikiLeaks and obtained by the Beirut-based newspaper Al-Akhbar, it was revealed that Saudi Arabia had reached out to the Mossad, which assisted the kingdom with, as Al-Akhbar reports, "intelligence collection and advice on Iran."

According to a source quoted in the emails, "Several enterprising Mossad officers, both past and present, are making a bundle selling the Saudis everything from security equipment (to) intelligence and consultation."
