DTN News - CHINA NEWS: As Markets Gyrate, China’s Central Bank Tries to Allay Concern on Tight Credit

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 25, 2013: HONG KONG — The Chinese central bank reassured investors worried about a lingering credit squeeze and declared that it had already been selectively supporting bank liquidity, as Chinese stock markets swung wildly again Tuesday after several days of volatility.

The central bank, People’s Bank of China, eager to rein in soaring lending growth and financial risk, initially refrained from intervening as bank-to-bank interest rates soared last week, but then apparently released more money for lenders. Uncertainty over the central bank’s position produced wide trading swings Tuesday, with the main Chinese stock indexes dropping to their lowest levels since early 2009 before recovering most of the day’s losses near the end of trading.

The Shanghai composite index, which tumbled 5.3 percent Monday, slumped more than 5 percent again by early afternoon Tuesday. It recovered almost all of those losses to close down 0.2 percent. The index’s total decline since a peak in early February has been nearly 20 percent.

DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS: The Armored Group Launches Their New Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport (BATT) S AP

DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS: The Armored Group Launches Their New Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport (BATT) S AP

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 25, 2013: The Armored Group (TAG) is proud to announce the launch of their new Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport S AP (BATT). The newest BATT S AP was developed to provide unequalled safety features and tactical capabilities in the field for deployment, extraction and medic services.

The Armored Group’s BATT S AP was specifically designed for law enforcement agencies that needed armored personnel vehicles armored to protect against NIJ IV and .50 Caliber Ball Round threats, but had limited budgets available to outfit their tactical teams.  This vehicle offers maximum protection on a patrol-sized Ford F-550 chassis, yet allows for the movement of 12-14 fully geared officers.  Although sporting the Ford OEM hood, we used our extensive experience in the armored SUV and Sedan field to incorporate the engine bay armor protection behind the fenders, behind the headlights and under the hood.  This process helps allow us to lower production costs and weight constraints on our unit, which enables us to pass these advantages on to our customers by providing a lower entry cost into high levels of armor and extending the unit to offer more room to transport more officers.

DTN News - SPECIAL REPORT: Terror Strike In Kashmir Ahead of PM's Visit - Eight Army Jawans Killed

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 24, 2013:  Eight soldiers were killed and 13 were injured, seven of them seriously, when two militants opened fire on an Army convoy on the outskirts of Srinagar, just a day before a visit by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The Prime Minister condemned the attack, calling it 'cowardly' and said his travel plans remain unchanged. (Read)

The Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the terror attack but central intelligence agencies believe that the terror group acted on behalf of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The militants opened fire on the second of three Army vehicles before racing away on a motorcycle. They, however, ran into a police check-post about five kms away. They then lobbed a grenade and opened firing, which resulted in injuries to a CRPF officer and a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer. Abandoning the motorcycle, the men fled in a car with tinted windows.

DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS: U.S. And Israel Are Nervous About Chinese Entry Into The UAV Market

DTN News - DEFENSE NEWS:  U.S. And Israel Are Nervous About Chinese Entry Into The UAV Market

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 24, 2013:  Despite all the publicity American UAVs receive, the major exporter of UAVs in the last decade has been Israel. Between 2002 and 2012 Israel exported $4.7 billion worth of UAVs, about twice as much as the U.S. exported. Part of this was due to the U.S. military demand for UAVs in Iraq and Afghanistan, which was largely met by American suppliers. But there were also U.S. government restrictions on American UAV exports. These still exist, for political (no weapons and a long list of countries that cannot buy) and security (many countries cannot be trusted to keep American secrets secret). These restrictions are becoming a major issue for U.S. UAV manufacturers because Israel already has a head start as an exporter and China (using copies of many Israeli and U.S. UAVs) is coming up fast. The UAV market is expected to double (to over $11 billion a year) in the next decade and American firms have to export to survive, because the American military has cut purchases way back and will not be buying much for the next five years (or more).

It’s understandable that the Israelis are leading exporters, as they developed a lot of the basic technology that made possible best-selling American models (like Predator and Raven). Israel kept developing UAV tech after successful American designs appeared. As a result of this trend, in the last decade nations have found that if they wanted American style UAVs but often could no buy American for whatever reason. But the Israelis probably had what you needed, and often at a better price.

DTN News -  SYRIA UNREST AL-QAEDA CONNECTION: Turkish Allies Flying 'New al-Qaeda' Fighters To Syria With U.S. Support - Report

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - June 24, 2013: Our NATO partner's and long considered one of our closest allies in the Muslim world, the Turks are now reportedly using their national airlines to ferry al-Qaeda terrorists to fight with the rebels in the Syrian Civil War, all with the support and approval of both the American and British governments, as reported by the London-based Muslim news portal Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA) on June 22, 2013.

The Turkish Connection...

Cited only as a military source speaking on the grounds of anonymity, the source accused the Turkish intelligence agency of sending 93 al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists from their training camps in Pakistan's lawless Waziristan province to the Turkish province of Hatay on the Turkish-Syrian coastal border.

Previous reports by ABNA have cited Turkey's national airline, Turkish Air, of transporting al-Qaeda and Taliban militants from North Waziristan in Pakistan to the Turkish borders with Syria.

According to the covert source, all 93 terrorists were passengers on the Karachi-Istanbul flight route, Turkish Air No. 709 on September 10, 2012.

Reportedly, all those transported were originally from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and a group of Arabs already residing in Waziristan.
