European commercial aircraft builder Airbus booked 29 orders in March and delivered 46 aircraft during the month, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The new orders were placed by Cathay Pacific Airways (0293.HK), which asked for 15 new A330-300 airliners; and by Turkish Airlines, the company said.

Airbus' deliveries in the month included two super jumbos to Germany's Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE).

During the first three months of the year, the company--a division of European Aeronautic Defense & Space Co NV (EAD.FR)--delivered 119 aircraft over the first quarter and booked one net order as 68 cancellations during the period almost offset the 69 orders made.

DTN News - BOEING DEFENSE NEWS: Boeing Supports 1st Hellfire Test Launch From Avenger System....NSI News Source Info # 1775
(NSI News Source Info) HUNTSVILLE, Ala., - April 5, 2011: Boeing [NYSE: BA] supported the U.S. Army's first test launch of an AGM-114 Hellfire missile on Feb. 23 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The missile was fired from a modified Avenger weapon system as part of Boeing's continuing development of the Avenger-derived Adaptive Force Protection System (AFPS).

"The Avenger turret's ability to launch Hellfire missiles offers the warfighter another choice of weapon, one with significant ground firepower," said Phil Hillman, Avenger program manager for Boeing Network & Tactical Systems. "We continue to integrate and test additional capability on this system. Since Avenger is already in the Army inventory, upgrading Avengers instead of developing and fielding new systems has obvious cost advantages -- something that we believe is critically important in the current budget environment."

The test evaluated the feasibility of adding the Hellfire missile and Hydra 2.75-inch rocket capabilities to the Army's Avenger system. Boeing designed, built and installed the mechanical integration equipment to mate the Hellfire and rocket launchers to the Avenger, and supported the live firing at the test site.

DTN News - AFGHANISTAN NEWS: Students Gather In Kabul On Fifth Day Of Afghan Protests....NSI News Source Info # 1772
(NSI News Source Info) KABUL, Afghanistan - April 5, 2011:

Around 250 young Afghans gathered at Kabul University on Tuesday shouting "death to America" on the fifth day of protests against the burning of a Koran by a fundamentalist U.S. pastor.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets in protests aroundAfghanistan. There has been deadly violence in two cities, although most protests ended with nothing more dramatic than burning of flags and effigies.

Twelve people died in Kandahar over Saturday and Sunday, when demonstrators waving white Taliban flags burned cars, attacked police, smashed shops and sacked a girls' high school.

On Friday, seven foreign U.N. staff and five Afghan protesters were killed after demonstrators overran their office in normally peaceful Mazar-i-Sharif city in the north.

The Kabul demonstrators, who included both university students and outsiders, were staying on the university campus, said Hashmat Stanekzai, spokesman for the Kabul police chief.

Across Afghanistan, protesters have denounced fundamentalist Christian preacher Terry Jones, who supervised the burning of a Koran at a church in Florida on March 20. There have been angry sermons by imams urging people to stand up in defense of their religion.

But in eastern Kunar province, a conservative insurgent stronghold which has not seen any protests, senior clerics who form a council known as an ulema, said they were actively working to prevent any gathering because of the violence in other areas.

"The ulema are in discussions to avoid protests against Koran burning because only Afghans face losses of life and damage to their properties, not the one who burned the holy Koran," said Shahzada Shahid, head of the ulema council in Kunar and a member of parliament from the province.

"Terry Jones will be happy seeing Muslims kill Muslims and bloodshed, he won't be hurt," he added.

DTN News - PAKISTAN NEWS: Prime Minister David Cameron In Pakistan Talks To Urge 'Fresh Start'....NSI News Source Info # 1771
(NSI News Source Info) ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - April 5, 2011:

Prime Minister David Cameron held talks in Pakistan on Tuesday, seeking a "fresh start" in relations with Islamabad, nine months after accusing it of turning a blind eye to terrorism.

In his first trip to the nuclear-armed Muslim country since taking office in May 2010, Cameron hopes to soothe tensions caused by his remarks during a visit to India, as well as boost cooperation on counter-terrorism and in Afghanistan.

The premier briefly visited Islamabad's Faisal Mosque, nestled under the foothills of the Himalayas, before embarking on a packed day of talks with high-ranking civilian and military officials, as well as opposition leaders.

"Let's today make a fresh start in our relationship. It is time for a new step in relations between Britain and Pakistan and between Britons and Pakistanis," Cameron was to tell an audience of university students.

"Let's make this the start of a new era in the relations between our countries, our governments, our peoples," he was to add, according to pre-released extracts of the speech.

"Let's clear up the misunderstandings of the past, work through the tensions of the present and look together to the opportunities of the future."

April 4, 2011: A white BMW that is regularly parked at a lot reserved for the disabled has raised the ire of civic-minded Singaporeans. The car, which is missing a handicapped label, usually hogs the only available parking space reserved for the handicapped at a carpark in Bukit Purmei HDB estate.

The driver's inconsiderate behaviour has enraged a resident so much so he alerted the district's Member of Parliament Sam Tan, reported The Sunday Times (ST).

The latter then informed the Housing & Development Board (HDB).

The driver of the BMW with licence plate number ER 61U has been identified as 34-year-old Yew Chee Heng, owner of Rich Harvest Florist & Trading. His shop is located near the carpark in question.

The HDB told the paper it is aware of the case "where an inconsiderate driver repeatedly parked his car in the reserved space for disabled drivers".

The authority has been taking enforcement action, a spokesman said.

"For recalcitrant motorists such as this case, we will intensify our enforcement action against the offender and mete out stiffer penalties," a spokeswoman said.

A check on the HDB website revealed, between 16 March to 1 April, Yew chalked up seven parking summonses, all unpaid, each with a fine of $50.

Yew declined to be interviewed when contacted by the same paper.

President of the Handicaps Welfare Association Nancy Chia said such illegal parking is "a big problem."

"If the non-disabled cannot support the disabled, then where else can we get support from?"
