The International Criminal Court ordered the arrest of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir of Sudan for war crimes and crimes against humanity. It is the first time the court that opened in 2002 in the Hague has sought the arrest of a sitting head of state. The news of the warrants brought out hundreds of Sudanese for a demonstration at the Cabinet Building in Khartoum, in support of Mr. Bashir and opposed to the court's action.
