(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - September 7, 2011: Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a competitive indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to provide advisory and analytical services in support of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The multiple-award contract has a five year period of performance with a not to exceed ordering contract ceiling value of $281 million for all awardees, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Huntsville, Ala.

The MDA is a research, development, and acquisition agency within the Department of Defense that develops, tests, and fields ballistic missile capabilities to protect the U.S., forward deployed forces, and allies from attack. Under the contract, SAIC will provide senior advisory and analytical services as required to help develop, deploy and maintain BMDS capabilities. SAIC will also provide assessments and analysis services as needed, generating reports for MDA on testing; quality, safety and mission assurance; engineering; and programmatics. SAIC is one of four contractors that will compete for task orders under the contract.
