Iraqi Kurds from the Sufi Islamic sect took part in a ritual ceremony to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad in the Kurdish town of Akra. Muslims around the world celebrated the birth of the prophet, known in Arabic as the "Mawlid al-Nabawi" holiday, on the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
